The article Obama:"It is unacceptable that the United States ranks 15th in the world in broadband adoption" written by Sam Diaz explains that President Obama was very upset when hearing the new about the United States. Even though the Internet was invented here in the United Sates it is not being utilized like others are doing. Obama would like broadband to be available to students in school and in hospitals (276).
Sam Diaz does a good job with the beginning paragraphs and the use of the president's quotes. He does fall off of topic a little bit. He begins to talk about the United States announcing a recession and how many jobs were lost. That does not really flow with the topic. He could of found facts saying how people out of work effects the use of broadband. Then he continues with a quote from President Obama talking about new investments and how it will create millions of jobs. How will that have an impact of the advancement of broadband in the United States? Sam could have included details of how and what they are going to do to help move the United States up from the fifteenth ranking. He then ends the article talking about bridges and roads, that also does not go with the topic.
The article was very interesting at the beginning but as it started to float off the subject it was a little hard to understand where Sam was going with it. To improve this article I would suggest more fact about how the president is going to help improve the broadband use in the United States and tell what the other countries are doing. Why are we not in the top five, what are they doing differently?

Valentine's Day
Businesses love silly holidays, such as Valentine's Day. There is no logical reason why people celebrate them. Every year millions of people go out and celebrate, but why? Do they really know why they got dressed up and planned a special night out? There is no real reason. When searching Valentine's Day on the Internet many different stories appear. One story said that St. Valentine married young couples secretly because young marriage was banned. When he got caught they wanted to kill him. (http://www.theholidayspot.com/valentine/history_of_valentine.htm) Valentine's Day is just a day to spend money on pointless gifts and go out. Love should be expressed everyday of the year.
Business owners and companies enjoy selling pointless gifts to the community. How many stuffed animals does one person need? Does a box of chocolate and a bouquet of flowers really show that someone is loved? Society portrays Valentine's Day as love and happiness. Jewelry is advertised on television, billboards, the radio, in malls, and even through emails. Kay's Jewelers, Zales, Bremer Jewelry, and many more spend a lot of money advertising for Valentine's Day. They are not the only ones, many flower shops and hotels advertise specials. Victoria's Secret is a big supporter of the holiday. Many other stores are very sneaky, Walmart and Kroger make heart shaped cookies and have displays all of the store. Many restaurants have a special Valentine's Day dinner. Fast food places are also participating. Papa Murphy's has a heart shaped pizza, Dunkin Doughnut's has heart shaped doughnuts, and Steak n Shake has a special chocolate covered strawberry milkshake.Everyone should stay at home and not fall into the traps of this "hallmark holiday".

Why the Music Industry Hates Guitar Hero
According to the article "Why the Music Industry Hates Guitar Hero" on page 168-169 in Argument! the music industry is very upset that they are not making as much money as they wish to on video games. Edgar Bronfman, CEO of Warner Music Group believes that the Warner artists should be receiving more money and he threatens that they will not license any more to the games if they do not start to see a pay increase. The football league collects almost thirty percent of Madden sells (Howe). Brofman seems upset about that and will not allow people to step all over him. Not everyone is upset about the video games using songs, Aerosmith has amazing income from Guitar Hero. They earned more from Guitar Hero than on an album that they produced (Howe). Bronfman seems like he will never change and will continue to fight until the end.
Guitar Hero was very popular. The music department should get a percentage of the profits. They are asking for too much, if they already licensed some songs for the games and they made an agreement then it should just be stuck as is. If the music company did not realized how popular the game would be it is the music company's fault. They make enough money as it is, there is no need to be greedy. But there are some band that are making money and even small new bands getting there name out there on the games and that will help support there record sells. Guitar Hero is a good way to expand a persons music, you hear songs that you won't usually listen to. Not all of the music industry hates the video games there are just many steps to take to make everyone happy.
